The VECTOBOL platform provides scientific information, occurrence data, biological and ecological resources, and digital tools dedicated to medically and veterinary important vectors in Bolivia.

When using information, data, or resources available through VECTOBOL in a scientific publication, report, academic document, or any other work based on these contents, we kindly request that you cite the platform.

Recommended citation of the platform

The recommended general citation is:

VECTOBOL. [year]. VECTOBOL: Biodiversity of Blood-Feeding Insects in Bolivia. Available at: https://vectobol.ecosciences.fr/

The version of the platform and the date of access may be added to ensure traceability of the information used.

Citation of data

The data available through VECTOBOL originate from different sources, including field activities, georeferenced observations, scientific literature, and contributions from scientific collaborations.

When specific data from VECTOBOL are used, users are encouraged to cite the corresponding source whenever it is indicated in the species profile, dataset, or associated resource.

Future datasets released with a persistent identifier (for example, a DOI) should be cited according to their specific reference.

Scientific works associated with VECTOBOL

The development of VECTOBOL relies on an integrated data management architecture linking field observations, scientific databases, and online dissemination tools.

This architecture includes:

  • digital collection of entomological field data using REDCap Mobile;

  • secure storage and management of data through REDCap;

  • data structuring, validation, and transformation for integration into the web platform;

  • dissemination of information through species profiles, interactive maps, and scientific resources.

The design and architecture of VECTOBOL have been presented at 23rd European Society of Vector Ecology Conference:

Frédéric Lardeux, Thierry Valéro, Bruno Granouillac, Claudia Aliaga, Lineth Garcia. VECTOBOL : An Initiative Investigating Vector Biodiversity in Bolivia that could inspire European laboratories. 23rd European Society of Vector Ecology Conference, Oct 2024, Montpellier, France. , ESOVE 2024 – the 23rd European Society for Vector Ecology Conference. Scientific use of VECTOBOL

VECTOBOL encourages the use of its resources for research, education, entomological surveillance, and public health activities.

Users are encouraged to acknowledge the platform and the original sources of data in order to recognize the scientific and technical contributions that support their production.
